El Destilado is an expression of Oaxacan ingredients seen through the eyes of Chef Mario Farías, with an emphasis on local ingredients, fermentation, and cooking with live fire.

Combining local ingredients with global technique, Chef Mario’s tasting menus are designed to take guests on a guided journey through a bounty of flavors and textures found in Oaxaca and beyond.

El Destilado

El Destilado showcases modern Oaxacan cuisine in the form of two dynamic tasting menus.

The award-winning restaurant, which opened in 2015, also features a pared-down, casual menu on the rooftop to accompany a thoughtfully curated list of mezcal, wine, & cocktails.

About Chef Mario

Originally a native of Jalisco, Mario moved to Oaxaca in 2016 to learn more about the region’s cuisine. After an extensive exploration of traditional village cooking, Mario started working at El Destilado as a line cook. By 2018, he was ready to take over El Destilado’s hearth-based kitchen, and nowadays is supported by a multi-talented team hailing mostly from Oaxaca.

Reservations for our six-course and nine-course tasting menus can be made via Tock. We enjoy catering to all dietary restrictions, as long as we have proper notice - please add your dietary preferences on the “Additional notes” section when booking.

 

 

Due to limited space, we are unable to accept reservations for our a la carte menu. To secure a table for a la carte, we recommend arriving before 7 PM, or calling to check for availability (951.516.2226)

 

 

El Destilado is also available for events and to host tasting menu dinners for large groups.
